Great relationships bring you into new worlds: A Chance to be Royal

It is impossible to enter a committed relationship and stay the same person that you were. In fact, that’s not really the goal whether you think about or not. You naturally want to be more like the person that you are joining with. If you are an introvert and are energized by being alone reading a book or writing or anything like that, you are usually drawn to an extrovert who loves being with people, even new people. As you are drawn to that person, you also take on some of their world which is a little less uncomfortable because your partner is there.
When we enter a relationship, we are entering into someone else’s world, worldview, thoughts, and feelings. You must suspend some of your own feelings to experience what your partner is experiencing. The better you can do this, the closer that you become.

The balance that you should consider is ensuring that you do not loose yourself as you find a new world. You will join a new world and share your own world as you grow.

When we enter into God’s world through a relationship with Jesus Christ, we enter into His family. He accepts us as a committed partner in the relationship and adopts us into His family.

“Beloved, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is” (1 John 3:2).

Jesus did not just save us and promise us eternal life, He made us family.

Once we accept him, we are considered his children. As his children, we are in a committed relationship with certain expectations. However, it is better than that. We have expectations for how we live in this family, but we are also royalty as He is the King of Kings. What we see and experience today is also much different than what it will be like.

Even though John had seen Jesus in a resurrected body with all kinds of superpowers, there is still more to come.

The eyewitness to the story, John, had seen Jesus as a man and realized over time that He was much more than just a man. He knew Jesus as a man and got to see the slow, fascinating revelation that He was not just a man, but God Himself. Then He saw Jesus return after dying on a horrifying cross. But Jesus did not just return, He came back in a resurrected body with all kinds of powers.

John saw all this and considered that there is much more to come. Even though John had seen more than most people in their lives, John was encouraged that we still do not know what is to come.
What we do know is that we will be like Him.

He came to be like us so that we can go and be like Him.

We know when he appears we will be like him and that will be awesome. In all the wonderful things that Jesus is and the glory that He received, we will be like Him. I don’t know if you have ever noticed that when two people are together for a long time especially when they are together for a long time over a period of years, that they become like each other.

In every relationship that you commit to and follow up in, you will see that your world changes and you will enter into experiences that you could not have imagined before. When it comes to growing in a committed relationship with God, through Jesus Christ, we enter into a world like no other and we have the promises of a world we cannot even imagine.

What is holding you back?
